At Home Side Businesses

Teach Applying Eye Makeup as an At Home Side Businesses, skin care and beauty classes is a great way to earn extra income, and to grow your list of dedicated customers.

It is a fun way to interact with your customers, grow your business, and gain a loyal following.

There are many effective ways to showcase your creative and business skills, the one I’ve had the MOST success with is to teach one-on-one or small groups of women. This is a wonderful opportunity to show your creative tips and tricks on makeup application, and to answer questions.

"But wait a minute," you say. "Aren't I supposed to be selling makeup and skin care?"

Yes, you are! After your customers have had a chance to learn a new skill. Over the past few years, I've found this to be the best way to get new customers, build my list, and increase my sales, for five reasons:

1) You can quickly gain FREE exposure to untapped prospects at one time.

2) Workshops let you educate and share good information with your prospects. They also position you as an expert in their eyes, so they'll think of YOU as the most respected resource in your field.

3) You have the right to promote yourself, your business, and whatever else you want at the end of every article.

4) This is a tried-and-true method that will NEVER stop working, unlike the latest and greatest gimmicks.

5) It's EASY, and anyone can do it!

HOW TO GET STARTED

1. PICK ONE AREA TO CONCENTRATE ON

Decide which area of makeup application is your favorite and come up with a title for your class. (Think, “Natural Eye Makeup Application for Day”. Look through your makeup kit, and pick a few colors and tools that you will use that really showcases your expertise.

2. POLISH IT 'TIL IT SHINES

Write out an outline of what you will talk about during the teaching session. This helps to keep on track.

3. ADD A TAKE HOME BOOKLET

This will help reinforce what your customers have learned. Don’t forget to include your contact information so they can continue to call you for more orders, or questions.

At the end of the booklet, insert a copyright notice, dated when you first published the information. Example: © 2011 ABC Company Inc.

4. WRITE A SNAZZY "RESOURCE BOX"

This can include a glossary of skin care and makeup terms, for example. Don’t use this space to promote yourself. It is all about creating value for your customers with good information.

5. AUTOMATE THE ENTIRE PROCESS

I know you're probably thinking right now, "OK Jodie, this sounds great, but isn't this going to be time consuming?"

The answer is most definitely YES. In the past, you'd have to spend several hours a week just to get one new customer. It's a lot of administrative work, requiring time that you probably don't have.

As you build up your list of customers, eventually you will develop word of mouth marketing, which will free up your valuable time.

Remember also that if you don't want to do all of the classes yourself, you could develop a list of “Raving Fans” and recruit them as “Helpers” to spread the word about you business. It's a perfect task to pass on to an assistant. The key is getting it down to a SYSTEM that you repeat regularly.

Perhaps you would like to get in front a alot of people from the comforts of your home?
